The aim for this project was to explore rhetorical approaches to communicate a single stance on a societal issue in two different visual outcomes. The stance I interpreted was the current flag is a misrepresentation of New Zealand’s identity.
The main rhetorical device I used in Stand For Change was metaphor; a fingerprint representing identity. I furthered this metaphor by creating the print out of words from the National “Stand For” campaign (a campaign which asked New Zealand what they stand for, what and who is New Zealand?)
I utilised homage in relation to the ‘Smoking Not Our Future’ poster as it’s a popular campaign known for creating positive change in New Zealand.
